St Mauritius Church, Appenzell, Switzerland
The Church of Saint Mauritius is located in the Northeast corner of Appenzell next to the River Sitter. The building originates from around 1069. During its history 4 churches have been built on the site with each church being larger than the original. Most of the Gothic features were destroyed in a fire but the tower still remains along with the quire which is between the nave and the sacred area.
