Paris Expo, which houses South Paris Arena 1, is an exhibition and convention centre at Porte de Versailles in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, just off the ring road. It is one of the busiest such centres in Europe and the most visited in France, welcoming 7.5 million people each year. Offering magnificent views of the Eiffel Tower, the 35 ha site has been around for almost 90 years.
The centre has expanded considerably since it was built in 1923 to host the Paris Fair, now boasting 228,000 m2 of exhibition space across eight pavilions. Designed to accommodate all layouts and requirements, Paris Expo knows no bounds when it comes to organising the most daring, innovative events. An ambitious three-phase renovation programme lasting 10 years and costing €500 million is currently underway to modernise the centre’s infrastructure, with work scheduled to finish in 2023. Housing Halls 1, 4 and 6 and other halls for Games logistics, including media areas, food outlets and storage facilities, Paris Expo will be one of the major Games hubs.
