Source of the Loue, Ouhans, Franche-Comte, France

Gushing out of a cave 60 meters wide and 30 meters high dug into an overhanging wall over 100 feet high, the source of the Loue is nothing but a majestic resurgence of the Doubs. Magic and grandeur reign over this “remote” (closed circus). It is one of the major natural sites of the Doubs, furnished and decorated with didactic panels to better understand the natural spectacle that is offered to the eye.

From the source, the trail leads down the deep gorge of the Loue, left bank, and reach the electrical plant and the village of Mouthier-Haute-Pierre (6km – 2 hours). Access by car by the RD 41 leading to Ouhans, from the RN 67, then before Ouhans, take the road to the Source or, for pedestrians, the picturesque GR 595 overlooking the right bank, the Gorges de Noailles
