Sofiyskaya Embankment, Moskva, Novgorod Oblast, Russia
Sofiyskaya embankment runs along the right bank of the Moscow river right opposite the Kremlin, from Bolshoi Kamenny Bridge to Bolshoi Moscvoretsky Bridge. It got its name from the Saint Sofia church.
The long suffering embankment burnt down twice: the first time in 1701 and the second time during the great patriotic war of 1812. After which the embankment was rebuilt. The wooden blocks were replaced with stone facing and part of the bank was raised and a public road was built on it.
