The Simmons Building, located at 618 Confluence Way SE in Calgary’s East Village, is a historic landmark that has been thoughtfully repurposed into a vibrant culinary and cultural hub. Originally constructed in 1912 for the Alaska Bedding Company, it later became associated with Simmons Canada, serving as a mattress and bedding factory. During World War II, the facility was dedicated to producing bedding for the military. After Simmons vacated the premises in 1966 due to flooding issues, the building experienced periods of abandonment and varied uses, including serving as a bunkhouse and storage depot.
