Silesian Insurgents’ Monument, Katowice, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland

Katowice belong to the group of the youngest European agglomerations, resulting in the second half of the nineteenth century and are the youngest county town in Poland. This does not mean, however, that they do not have their history – on the contrary, stormy and heroic historical events here have left behind many traces.
