Shihmen Dam, Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwán 

Located in Longtan Town close to Daxi and Fuxing towns of Taoyuan County, Shihmen Reservoir is one of Taiwan’s major reservoirs. The water of the reservoir mainly comes from the north of Mt. Tapachien, and midstream of Dahan River.

Completed and opened to the public in 1964, Shihmen Reservoir has the height of 133m, and 680,000m3 for the water conservation capacity with 6 gates, a power generator plant, Shihmen Dam, and a circular walkway. The reservoir functions as a generator of electricity, supplier of water, preventer of flood, irrigator of farmlands as well as a wonderful Taoyuan tourist attraction.

Shihmen Reservoir was once the largest water conservancy project in Southeast Asia. The reservoir does not only provide water and generates power for northern Taiwan, but also serves as a wonderful tourist attraction for beautiful natural sceneries and special reservoir delicacies. Visitors may find many restaurants opened near the reservoir serving fresh reservoir fish delicacies. The most popular way of savoring the fresh fish is to have the fish made into different flavors. The fresh fish of Shihmen Reservoir have a fresh and tender taste.
