Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre

Established to be one of the world’s largest cultural projects, Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre comprises Natural History Museum, Science and Technology Museum, Arabic Islamic Science Museum, Space Museum, Fine Arts Centre, and Theatre. The Centre was named after one of the most inspiring leaders in Kuwait’s modern history, the late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem.

Under the auspices of the Office of His Highness the Amir, specialist exhibitions and topnotch cultural programmes have been launched. The Centre is home to a total of 22 world-class galleries, with over 3000 exhibits, exploring the facets of our world. Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre has come to life through a fruitful international collaboration across 13 countries, among which are nearly 96 specialist organisations.

Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem

The late Amir, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah was the 11th ruler of Kuwait, the first Amir and founder of modern Kuwait. Within his two years of his reign, he accomplished countless tasks including founding of the legal and constitutional institutions of Kuwait. Recognizing the needs of the society of the time, he established schools and hospitals and made education and health care free to all citizens and residents, and built free housing for Kuwaiti citizens while attending to the welfare of widows, orphans and the elderly.Under his leadership Kuwait joined the Arab League in July 1961 and a year later, the nation celebrated the creation and promulgation of the Kuwaiti Constitution.
