Serra do Tepequém, Amajari , State of Roraima, Brazil

The top of the Serra is a huge valley, crossed by the rivers Sobral and Paiva. On the way to the mountains, the landscape changes with every kilometer rolled. The cerrado and the creeks that resemble the Pantanal gradually give way to the closed forest. A good portrait of most of the municipalities of Roraima: of the seven thousand residents of the municipality, only two thousand are in the village.

A place where it is possible to know the geology, primitive forms of mining, working conditions, Environmental impacts caused by mining, recovery of degraded areas and commercialization of minerals.

Legend has it that a volcano lived angrily, throwing its flames over long distances. The fire poured its flames down the mountain and everything turned to ashes. Trees, animals, everything. In the maloca, the Tuxaua, concerned about the survival of his tribe, consulted the Pajé and gathered around the fire. In a gesture of renunciation, the three most beautiful virgin Indies of the tribe offered up in sacrifice and threw themselves into the fire of the volcano, which appeased their anger.

The tears of the three Indies to this day are found in the form of diamonds throughout the Serra do Tepequém. Beside this imposing mountain range, three other smaller ones represent the three indies of the maloca. This legend tells the fascination that the Serra do Tepequém represents since the time when he was one of the eldorados of the garimpo in Roraima.
