Selimiye Mosque and Kulliyesi, the most important monumental work of Edirne, the capital of the Ottoman Empire before the conquest of Istanbul and crowning the silhouette of the city, Sultan II. It was built in the name of Selim. Mosque and Kulliye, the most magnificent works of the period and later times with its technical excellence, dimensions and aesthetic values, is considered to be one of the most magnificent examples of architectural art and a masterpiece of man’s creative genius, most important of Ottoman architects.
Marble, wood, pearl and especially tile motifs and fine workmanship, pencil work on the dome and arches, marble upholstered courtyard and manuscript library linked to the building, which are used in the interior design and which are the best examples of the period, , educational institutions, outside courtyards and researches, and an artistic exposition.
