A Historic Ride: Operating since 1931, this 20-inch gauge railway is one of England’s oldest miniature railways. You’ll ride behind beautifully restored locomotives, including the original steam-outline diesel engines, on a picturesque journey between Peasholm Park and Scalby Mills. The round trip is approximately 2 miles and offers wonderful views of the North Bay and Scarborough Open Air Theatre. More Than Just a Train Ride: The North Bay Railway complex offers a variety of exciting activities. You can brave the Sky Trail Adventure, a multi-level ropes and beam course, or make a splash on the Historic Water Chute, one of only three left in England! There are also bumper boats, electric-powered boats, and water-walking balls for lake adventures.

Accessibility: The railway is very family-friendly and accessible! Dogs, pushchair users, wheelchair users, and mobility scooter users are all welcome. There’s ramp access to the trains, and dedicated wheelchair spaces in the end carriages. Staff are available to assist with boarding.
Amenities: You’ll find a well-stocked gift shop at Peasholm Station for souvenirs. There are also snack shacks and cafes offering coffee, teas, soft drinks, light snacks, and ice creams. While there are no toilets on the train or platforms, accessible public toilets are available in the council-run car parks opposite the stations.
Location: The railway is conveniently located at Burniston Rd, Scarborough YO12 6PF, nestled beside the beautiful North Bay Beach and Peasholm Park. It’s a fantastic way to connect between Peasholm Park and the Sea Life Centre.
Plan Your Visit: The railway typically operates during most school breaks and daily from Easter to the end of October, with special events like Santa Specials throughout the year.
