The Vélodrome National is located in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, 6 km away from the Golf National, where the Olympic golf competitions will take place. It houses the headquarters of the French Cycling Federation. Originally conceived as part of Paris’ bid to host the 2012 Games, the Vélodrome National boasts an innovative Siberian pine track that is 250 m long by 8 m wide and has a gradient of 13° on the straights and 43.8° on the turns. The track was designed by Ralph Schürmann, who also worked on the velodrome used for the 2008 Beijing Games.

This versatile, modular venue can accommodate a range of activities, including sporting and cultural events. It was even used as a vaccination centre during the Covid-19 pandemic, enabling people waiting to get their vaccine to watch the French team
train for Tokyo. It regularly holds events and training sessions for other sports disciplines, such as badminton and combat sports, as well as fitness classes for the general public. The velodrome will host not only the
track cycling events, but also the modern pentathlon fencing competition at the Paris 2024 Games.
