Rua Portugal is part of the neighborhood of Praia Grande and it is there that are the main houses, streets and alleys, seen exactly as when they were erected.
With several commercial establishments, it was in this street that the most important companies of the time in which it was constructed were concentrated. In addition, the street was the first elevator of the city, installed in a four-story townhouse owned by Martins Irmãos. Today there are public offices and small shops on the premises, as well as famous buildings such as the Museum of Visual Arts.
