The Royal Canadian Mint is Canada’s official coin producer and a Crown corporation operating under the Royal Canadian Mint Act. Established on January 2, 1908, it began as a branch of the British Royal Mint in Ottawa. In 1931, it became a fully Canadian-controlled entity, reporting to the country’s Ministry of Finance and was renamed the Royal Canadian Mint. The Mint operates two facilities: its historic headquarters in Ottawa and a high-speed manufacturing facility in Winnipeg.

Located at 320 Sussex Drive, the Ottawa facility is housed in a Tudor Gothic-style building that has been designated a National Historic Site of Canada.
