Rocca Roveresca Castle, Senigallia AN, Italy
Important testimony of historic military architecture, this magnificent fortress was built as it stands now, incorporating existing defensive structures, between 1476 and 1482 at the behest of Giovanni della Rovere, lord of Senigallia and Mondavio from 1474 to 1501. The work of construction of the city fortifications was at first entrusted to Luciano Laurana, designer of the ducal Palace in Urbino, and since 1480, the military architect Baccio Pontelli.
