Rocca Calascio, Calascio AQ, Italy

Rocca Calascio is the highest Apennines Castle Tower rises to a height of 1520 meters above sea level dominates the south side of the Gran Sasso of Italy and is located at the edge of Campo Imperatore. It ranges from the fortress, to the west, towards Mount Sirente and Velino, north to the Gran Sasso and Campo Imperatore, south and part of the east towards the Plain of Navelli. It dominates the town below Calascio located at 1200 meters altitude. In a document dated 1380 was the first mention of Rocca Calascio, seen as isolated lookout tower, but the construction of the tower is to be placed around the year 1000.
