Restaurant FRITZ’s FRAU FRANZI

The FRITZ’s FRAU FRANZI restaurant stands for “Casual Fine Dining at it’s best”. In the state capital of Düsseldorf, it radiates metropolitan joie de vivre and has made a name for itself for exceptional hospitality and an open, communicative philosophy. Liveliness and lightness are perfectly reflected in the ambience and music. Without inhibitions and yet highly professional in service and cuisine, the restaurant fits the urban flair of the city of Düsseldorf.

Tucked inside the ultra-modern boutique Fritz Hotel in Düsseldorf’s city centre, Fritz’s Frau Franzi tends towards the same minimalist Scandinavian design, embellished with luxe furnishings and place settings. Fritz’s Frau Franzi touts itself as a ‘world kitchen with an experimental touch’.

Its creative menu of locally-sourced small plates varies seasonally and, under the direction of chef Benjamin Kriegel, the spot won a Michelin star. Standouts include Duroc pork belly, cooked for 36 hours, and a dessert of chocolate ganache, poached pear, pear-liquorice ice cream and salted caramel. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, the extensive wine list and menu of signature cocktails – alongside the restaurant’s buzzy atmosphere and clear attention to detail – make it a place you want to linger.

For FRITZ’s FRAU FRANZI, Tobias Rocholl has developed a cosmopolitan kitchen concept that is actively future-oriented: classic butter is replaced by good fats such as regional nut oils and olive oil. It is lactose-free and works with alternative sweeteners. And processing seasonal vegetables is crucial. Vegetarian dishes are a matter of course. Anything that makes it easier to enjoy is welcome. Tobias Rocholl does not follow trends. He likes to be inspired and prefers to find his very own creativity where he can switch off easily and have a clear head. The ideas for new dishes are bubbling up, which he then develops together with his strong kitchen team, such as mildly pickled Sauerland trout, radish, radishes, juniper.

Nevertheless, FRITZ’s FRAU FRANZI keeps inhibitions low. Agility and movement can be seen throughout the offer from Wednesday to Saturday. In addition to an imaginative beer accompaniment to the menu, there are always very good non-alcoholic alternatives such as juices, teas and cocktails.
