Remic Rapids Park

Remic Rapids Park is a beautiful and peaceful spot along the Ottawa River, just about 4 kilometers west of Parliament Hill. It’s well known for its serene atmosphere, stunning river views, and unique artistic features. One of the highlights of the park is the balanced rock sculptures created by artist John Felice Ceprano since 1986. Each year, he reconstructs these delicate stacks of stones along the riverbank, and his recent installations have carried meaningful themes, such as reflecting on the legacy of residential schools in Canada.

The park is also a popular place for birdwatching and enjoying nature, with migratory birds often visiting the area. It’s perfect for leisurely walks, picnics, or simply sitting by the river to soak in the calm environment. From late spring to mid-fall, there is a seasonal bistro in the park that serves casual food like sausages, salads, and local craft beers, providing a great way to relax while watching the sunset over the water.

Remic Rapids Park is accessible by bike or foot through the Capital Pathway, and there is parking available with a two-hour limit during the day. The park itself is open year-round, though the bistro operates only during the warmer months. It’s a lovely place to visit whether you want to connect with nature, enjoy some art, or just unwind by the river.
