Regional Musical Theater, Khabarovsk, Khabarovskiy kray, Russia
Our theater is one of the oldest creative teams in the country. The first Far Eastern labor collective of the artists of the comic opera was opened in October 1926 by the operetta “Silva” by I. Kalman. In those early years, the Khabarovsk people called the young troupe “the theater of joy.” At first the theater worked in Khabarovsk for no more than two, three months. Moving alternately to Vladivostok, Chita, Blagoveshchensk.
The next theatrical season was opened on November 7, 1928 in the new building, where the concert hall of the Philharmonic now is located. On the stage was the first Soviet operetta “Grooms”. The repertoire of the theater included mostly classical operettas: “Blue Mazurka”, “Frascita”, “Dance of dragonflies”, “Maritsa”, “Bayadere”. November 17, 1933 Khabarovsk city music theater was renamed the Khabarovsk Territory Theater of Musical Comedy.
The theater also worked during the war. In the fall of 1942, a group was organized from the theater to serve the army. And in August 1945, in a combat situation, moving along with the advancing units across Manchuria, the artists gave performances and concerts right at the halt.
