Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre

Regent’sParkOpenAirTheatre is an award-winning theatre and a London landmark. A firm fixture of summer in the city, the theatre provides a cultural hub in the surroundings of a Royal Park. Rose Garden theatre with annual summer programme of Shakespeare, kids shows, classics and musicals.

Established in 1932, the multi-award-winning Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is one of the largest theatres in London (1,240 seats) and situated in the beautiful surroundings of a Royal Park. Passionate about producing first class theatre for and in our unique setting which inspires, challenges and entertains, we received the Highly Commended Award for London Theatre of the Year in The Stage Awards 2021. Timothy Sheader was appointed Artistic Director in 2007, and in the last 10 years our productions have won seven Olivier Awards, three Evening Standard Awards and six WhatsOnStage Awards.

Our productions have also transferred to the West End and North America, where Jesus Christ Superstar is currently touring. Tours of the UK have included Pride and Prejudice, Lord of the Flies, Running Wild (a co-production with Chichester Festival Theatre) and To Kill a Mockingbird and Jesus Christ Superstar to the Barbican.

Receiving no regular public subsidy, over 90% of our income is generated from ticket sales, yet we have maintained our lowest ticket price of £25 for eight years. At the same time, membership of our BREEZE scheme – where those aged 18-25 can buy tickets for £10 – has increased by 37% over the past 12 months. Offering increased access to our theatre through an annual series of assisted performances, we also work with local charities, notably Camden Disability Action, Age UK Camden and Pimlico Musical Foundation, which gave 33 children from one of London’s most complex communities the opportunity of appearing alongside professional singers in 2019’s co-production with English National Opera of Hansel and Gretel. Looking to the future, we look forward to welcoming back all those who attend regularly, and those who are just discovering our theatre.
