Railway Art Village, Taitung City, Taitung County, Taiwán
Converted from the former Taitung Train Station that had been in operation for more than eighty years, Taitung Railway Art Village together with the neighboring Tiehua Music Village and Eslite Taitung Story House are now a cultural hub where temporary exhibitions, performances, and creative markets that mix fashion, music and the arts often take place.
Nowadays, the five rustic warehouses serve as an art studio, classroom, performance stage and Hualien Railway Culture Museum, and the old station hall is converted into the information center that welcomes every traveler. Most of the facilities have been preserved ever since then, from platforms, railway signals to triangular junctions and air-raid shelters, even an old train is still kept on the tracks today. Visitors can also cycle around the village as there is a very well-established bike trail. Two art installations displayed in front of the station hal are perfect for photography enthusiasts to capture how new and old coexist in harmony.
