Rahayeb Desert Camp, Wadi Rum Village, Aqaba Governorate, Jordan

Past an entryway framed by giant golden Arabic coffee pots and dwarfed by rocky cliffs, a cluster of tent cabins provide a comfortable home for those who venture into the Wadi Rum Desert. A stargazing deck and lively restaurant provide entertainment.

Rahayeb mixes Bedouin style with just enough modern amenities to make non tent-dwelling visitors feel at home. The focus is on natural elements, such as rocks and stars, with some textiles thrown in – striped tents and warm red patterns in the restaurant and lounge areas. This is an outdoorsy place. Except for the tents, public spaces are all open-air. The magic here is in the desert, not luxe living.
