Queenstown Airport, 9300, Southland, New Zealand

Located in Frankton, 10 minutes from the internationally renowned four-season resort of Queenstown, the airport services the surrounding region with daily domestic flights to/from the international gateways of Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington and regular trans-Tasman flights. It is a bustling commercial hub with about 700 people working at some 60-tenant businesses operating inside the terminal building and within the wider airport perimeter.

Queenstown Airport is also New Zealand’s busiest helicopter base and is heavily used for tourist ‘flightseeing’, especially to Milford Sound and Mount Cook, on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

In 2014 Queenstown Airport was named Major Airport of the Year by New Zealand Airports Association. The award was in recognition of its major achievement in winning approval from New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority and Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority for the foundation safety case for after-dark flights into the airport.
