In the Middle Ages, chivalry games and riding tournaments took place in the stable courtyard, which is part of the large complex of the Residenzschloss. Today the farm is used between the Johanneum and the so-called Long Walk for cultural events.
The Fürstenzug is on the outside of the stable yard at the Schlossplatz. The 101-meter-long wall painting depicts the history of the Saxon ruling class of the House Wettin as a survival-sized equestrian train.
