Prinsesse Marie, Copenhagen, Copenhagen Region, Denmark

The monument was erected in memory of Princess Marie and her efforts for sailors and their widows. The grieving woman with the boy is a reference to these. Model for the boy was the later poet Harald Herdal.  The French-born princess Marie of Orléans was the daughter of Duke Robert of Chartres and married to Prince Valdemar and mother of among others. Prince Axel. Carl Brummer has been responsible for the architectural design of the monument.
