Praia do Porto De Santo Antônio, Fernando de Noronha, State of Pernambuco, Brazil

“I live in a tropical country, blessed by God and beautiful by nature.” The opening verses of the song composed by Jorge Ben Jor in 1969 help explain what the Fernando de Noronha Pernambuco archipelago means to Brazil. Owner of unsurpassed natural beauty, Noronha – as it is affectionately called – is also one of the best diving spots in the country and internationally recognized.

Praia do Sancho – one of the main postcards of the destination – is considered the best and most beautiful in the world. But that is just the tip of the iceberg, or rather the visible part of a mountain range submerged in the waters of the Atlantic.

Yes, because Fernando de Noronha is an extinct volcano millions of years ago. There are 21 islands, islets and cliffs of volcanic origin. Since 2001, Noronha is considered by Unesco as a Natural World Heritage Site.
