Praça Felipe Patroni, located in the heart of Cidade Velha in Belém, Pará, is a historic square that carries centuries of memory and culture. Originally known as Jardim Prudente de Moraes, it was inaugurated in 1908 and, in 1910, was renamed in honor of Filipe Alberto Patroni, a lawyer, journalist, and politician from Pará who founded the first newspaper in the northern region, *O Paraense*, in 1822.
Situated behind the Palácio Antônio Lemos, the seat of the Municipal Prefecture, the square is surrounded by important historic buildings, including the Palácio dos Governadores (now the Museum of the State of Pará) and the Palacete Azul.
