Praça Benedito Leite, São Luís, State of Maranhao, Brazil

His first name was Largo João Velho do Val. Its current name was given after the construction of a bronze statue in honor of Benedito Pereira Leite, statesman who took the name of Maranhão in the Senate of the Republic.

Next to the Metropolitan Cathedral, Church of the Cathedral, and the Palace of Commerce, this street is an obligatory passage of those who come from the commercial center to Av. Dom Pedro II, where is the Palace of the Lions.
