Porta Adriana
Porta Adriana, also known as Porta Cavour, is a historic city gate located at the western edge of Ravenna’s historic center, between Via Cavour and Via Maggiore. Constructed in the 10th century AD on the right bank of the Montone River, a tributary of the Padenna, it has undergone several modifications over the centuries.
The current structure was initiated in 1582 under Cardinal Guido Luca Ferrero and completed the following year. Renovations in 1615 by Cardinal Domenico Rivarola and further enhancements in 1857 during Pope Pius IX’s visit have contributed to its present form.
