Piazza del Popolo , formerly Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza San Martino, is the main square of the city of Fermo. This historic space had its first configuration in 1442 under Alessandro Sforza, on the occasion of the coming of Bianca Maria Visconti the wife of his brother Francesco , who in the year 1444 gave birth in Fermo, Galeazzo Maria, the future Duke of Milan.
