The Cuia’s Head is a legend that tells the story of the fisherman Crispim who, when killing his mother, would have been for her to wander between the Parnaiba Rivers And Poty with a huge misshapen head, and would only be disenchanted after devouring seven virgin Marys.

According to legend, even today the Cuia’s Head scares the fishermen who fish in addition to the need in the rivers. The Gourd-shaped head is the folklore tale which tells the history of Crispim, a fisherman who Killed his own mother.

Before her death, she cursed him to stray forever between Parnaiba and Poty Rivers like a terrible monster with a gourd-shaped head, and the only way to break this enchantment would be if she could eat seven virgin women called Maria (Mary). People say he is still there, scaring fishermen that take fishes beyond their needs.
