Paradeplatz, Zürich, Switzerland

The heart of Bahnhofstrasse. The hub between Lake Zurich, Old Town and Bahnhofstrasse is Finanzplatz world-renowned.

The Paradeplatz is the heart of Bahnhofstrasse and an important tram junction near Lake Zurich. In the 17th century he was called “Säumärt” (pig market), since here the livestock market regularly took place. At the beginning of the 19th century, the name was renamed “Neumarkt”, 50 years later in “Paradeplatz”. Since the Swiss large banks have established their headquarters here, the parade plaza has become a major currency exchange in Switzerland. From the parade place you can reach Zurich’s Old Town, the Lake of Zurich or Bahnhofstrasse. There is also a branch of the Confiserie Sprüngli where you can buy the popular «Luxemburgerli».
