Pampulha Art Museum, UNESCO Site, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil

A contemporary space featuring a vast collection that shares the spotlight with its beautiful architecture, the Museu de Arte da Pampulha (MAP) is part of the Pampulha Architectural Complex, architect Oscar Niemeyer’s very first masterpiece.

The Complex also includes the São Francisco de Assis Church, Casa do Baile, Iate Clube and Casa Kubitschek.

Belo Horizonte’s former casino, MAP’s gardens were designed by Roberto Burle Marx and decorated with gorgeous Ceschiatti, Zamoiski and Pedrosa sculptures.

With Belgian crystal mirrors covering the walls of the Museum’s main hall, MAP stands out for the diversity of its collection, which includes paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings, tapestry and audiovisual items, among several others.

Supported mainly by donations or exhibition awards received, the Museum features an overview of Brazilian modern and contemporary art, particularly from the state of Minas Gerais.
