Located at 251 Northwestern Avenue, the Ottawa Mosque is the city’s first and oldest mosque, established in 1977. Designed by architect Ghazi Anwar Asad in the International style, the mosque features a distinctive 35-meter (115 ft) minaret and a central dome above the main prayer hall. The building also houses a library, meeting rooms, childcare center, and event halls, serving as a community hub for the Ottawa Muslim Association.
