Founded in 2013 by Amanda Lewis, OCT offers a diverse range of acting and drama programs for children and youth aged 3 to 18, both in-person and online.

The Ottawa Children’s Theatre is a vibrant drama school located in downtown Ottawa, dedicated to enriching the lives of children and youth through theatre education. Established in 2013, the theatre focuses on nurturing creativity, building confidence, and fostering self-expression through a variety of engaging programs. It offers a range of classes tailored to children aged 5 to 18, catering to different skill levels and interests. From introductory sessions that ignite imagination to pre-professional training in acting and audition techniques, the programs aim to cultivate a love for the performing arts in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Classes are held at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, which features large, accessible studios that provide a safe and inspiring space for young actors. The curriculum emphasizes the development of essential theatre skills such as voice, movement, improvisation, and character development, helping participants grow both artistically and personally. Special offerings include private coaching, audition preparation, and the Trinity College London drama program, which enhances students’ opportunities for certification and recognition.

The theatre is committed to inclusivity and outreach, offering scholarships and financial assistance to ensure accessibility for all children, regardless of their financial situation. It also collaborates with schools and community organizations to bring theatre education to a broader audience, making a meaningful impact on the community.

Throughout the year, the Ottawa Children’s Theatre hosts performances and open houses, allowing students to showcase their talents. These events provide a platform for students to share their growth and hard work with friends, family, and the community. With its dedication to fostering creativity and nurturing talent, the Ottawa Children’s Theatre has become a cherished institution in the city’s cultural landscape.
