The Osman Gazi Bridge crosses Izmit Bay, forming part of the extended highway system linking Izmir and Istanbul, reducing the travel time by around 6 hours.

The suspension bridge has a free span of 1,550 metres between its towers and a total length of approximately three kilometres. The bridge is built in one of the most seismically active areas in the world, placing additional demands on the bridge’s design.
