San Francisco Oracle Park

Oracle Park

The San Francisco Giants have been calling this stadium home since 2000, playing host to multiple World Series games. Oracle Park is regarded as one of the most scenic baseball parks in the United States for its picturesque placement along the San Francisco Bay. The majority of attendees are afforded prime views of the glittering water from their seats all the while being able to enjoy one of America’s greatest pastimes.

Although baseball season runs from April to October, the stadium holds tours year-round (except on game days), providing a behind-the-scenes look at the field, dugout, the press box, luxury suites and more. Make sure to catch a glimpse of the World Series trophies and rings, which are on display on the Promenade Level behind home plate.

And if you’re in town the same time the Giants are, visitors strongly recommend attending a game. Travelers say the energy at the park is incredible, largely thanks to the team’s dedicated fan base. And make sure to come to the park on an empty stomach. Attendees laud the vast amount of dining options and superb food quality, often citing Gilroy garlic fries and Sheboygan bratwursts as favorites. If you can’t score a ticket to the game, you can still get a piece of the action with the help of The Portwalk. The Portwalk is a pedestrian path that runs along the waterfront that allows spectators to peep a game at field level for up to three innings or longer for free (depending on the crowd size that day). Visitors to strongly suggest bringing a jacket – regardless of the time of year – and taking public transportation instead of driving, as parking is limited.

Oracle Park is located in SoMa (South of Market) and is easily accessible by BART train (Powell Street or Montgomery Street stops), Muni metro or bus. Tours are offered daily at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. rain or shine except on game days and holidays. Tickets cost $22 for adults and $12 for kids 12 and younger; tours last about an hour-and-a-half. Game times and their ticket prices vary, so check the MLB website to plan ahead of your visit.

Oracle Park, with its breathtaking views and classic design, was chosen as the 2008 Sports Facility of the Year by Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily as part of the inaugural Sports Business Awards program. The first privately financed ballpark in Major League Baseball since 1962, the Giants’ home has many incredible features.
