Large early 19th-century square lined by ornate buildings, some of them with a Roman influence.  Odeonsplatz is situated in the Altstadt (Old Town) district of Munich, near the northern end of Ludwigstraße. The square was originally created in the early 19th century during the expansion of Munich under the rule of King Ludwig I of Bavaria. It was named after the Odeon, a concert hall that once stood on the site.
