Nordpark

Popular, expansive park featuring themed gardens, fountains, shade trees & walking paths. Düsseldorf has lush green lungs spread all over the city. What the 70-hectare South Park is for the residents of the southern parts of the city, the North Park, which is half the size, is for the people in Stockum, Derendorf, Golzheim and Unterrath: an oasis and meeting place, a place for sports and walks, after-work picnics and badminton.

The picture here is different from that in the south. The green area, which opened in 1937 and stretches west and east of Kaiserswerther Strasse, shows more geometric design than the partly English-inspired South Park. Elongated pools of water and symmetrical flower beds convey a certain austerity, but contrast attractively with the picturesque Japanese garden and water lily garden. In addition, the Nordpark is not only home to many plants. In the local Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum there are more than 500 animal species whose habitat is closely linked to the water. Contemporary sculptures by international sculptors can also be discovered in the Nordpark.
