NHS Louisa Jordan Hospital

The NHS Louisa Jordan is a temporary emergency critical care hospital created to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland. It is located within the SEC Centre in Glasgow. Operated by NHS Scotland, it was planned to have an initial capacity of 300 beds, and the capability of expanding to accommodate 1000.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health board in the UK. We provide healthcare to over 1.2 million people and employ around 38,000 staff. Since February 2010, we are required to follow Scottish Government Health Department guidance on informing, engaging and consulting people in developing health and community care services (CEL 4 (2010)). There is a detailed step by step process to inform and involve patients and the public in proposals to change services. This process of involvement is required before a NHS Board can decide to begin consultation on a proposed service change.
