The neo-gothic splendor of the New Town Hall dominates architecturally the north side of the Marienplatz and is the seat of the Lord Mayor. Its tower offers a great view and houses the famous bell tower, which is a true spectator magnet.
What many do not know: The New Town Hall on Marienplatz is not as old as it looks. It was not completed until 1905. Around the turn of the century was the neo-Gothic style a popular, the Paulskirche at Theresienwiese originated in the same period, the same architect: Georg von Hauberrisser, who filed with only 25 years his design for the new city hall.
