NATURE SHIP HEIMLICHE LIEBE is a private initiative aimed at preserving and nurturing the “Alte Schleusenbecken” as a biodiverse habitat, with the support of the city of Frankfurt.The historic ship and its crew strive to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding ecosystem, discreetly and unobtrusively. To achieve this, the ship is constantly immersed in an idyllic ambiance, exuding a sense of harmony with nature and tranquility.
In addition to its nocturnal surveillance functions necessary due to urban pressures, the crew, consisting of a forestry engineer and his partner, an artist and animal communicator, discreetly tend to all aspects of the Alte Schleusenbecken. Their responsibilities range from removing litter thrown into the water by visitors, to nurturing and caring for distressed inhabitants of the habitat, and even creating essential retreats for them.
