Hanbury Hall National Trust

Hanbury Hall is a large 18th-century stately home standing in parkland at Hanbury, Worcestershire. The main range has two storeys and is built of red brick in the Queen Anne style. It is a Grade I listed building, and the associated Orangery and Long Gallery pavilion ranges are listed Grade II. It is managed by the National Trust and is open to the public. William and Mary-style country house, garden and park.

Spring is the ideal time to explore Hanbury’s gardens. From mid-February onwards we start to see early signs, as the trees begin to show hints of green once again, the buds start appearing in the borders and the first of the new lambs arrive out in the park. The first signs of spring come with the appearance of swathes of snowdrops around the gardens. Typically the best display is lining Cedar Walk from the Great Garden all the way down to the Ice House. Daffodils typically follow in March and April – quintessential sign of spring with their bright-coloured blooms; see them at their finest down in Kytes Orchard.

With just under 400 acres of parkland ready for exploring we recommend pulling on your walking boots and wrapping up warm for a satisfyingly squelchy walk aroud the estate. A photograph of our walks map can be taken at Visitor Reception on arrival, or can be followed by the coloured way-markers. For those of you looking for a more gentle stroll, try a meander through the formal gardens. With a walled garden, orchard and bowling green ready to be explored.  Due to recent heavy rainfall we recommend wearing suitable sturdy footwear on your walk.

Outside taps to clean off your muddy boots can be found in the Stableyard and at the back of the Hall. When the National Trust took ownership of Hanbury Hall in 1953, the impressive George London gardens had long been swept away. In their place, was an open landscape surrounded by wider countryside, in the style of Capability Brown. Not a trace of the original garden remained but using London’s original 1705 plans, our dedicated team of gardeners have worked to recreate the stunning gardens you see today.
