National Park Rila Dupnitsa, Bulgaria

Rila National Park is the largest national park in Bulgaria spanning an area of 810.46 km² in the Rila mountain range in the south-west of the country. It was established on 24 February 1992 to protect several ecosystems of national importance.

National Park Rila is situated in the southwest part of the country, in Rila mountain. The park has a total area of 81,046 hectares and is the largest of the three national parks in Bulgaria. There are more than 100 peaks on the territory of the park, with an attitude of over 2000 meters; the highest peak in the country and on the Balkan Peninsula.
