The National Museum is Denmark’s state-of-the-art cultural history main museum and encompasses both the history of Danish and foreign cultures. It is the National Museum’s wish to make its rich collections increasingly accessible so that they provide an inspirational starting point for research, teaching, understanding and interpretation of cultural history.

The National Museum performs a number of key tasks at national level in the following areas: archeology, ethnology, numismatics, ethnography, science, preservation, dissemination, counseling concerning church restoration, treatment of Danish sheep and lending of museum objects.
