Nanliao Port, North District, Hsinchu City, Taiwán

Nanliao Fishing Port is located at the what is now known as the Old Fishing Port along the 17 km coastline. A new fishing port was built because flowing sand movement on the sea floor resulted in blockage around the old port. However, it still retains the original ice-making plants and packing machinery that were used fo fill the boats as they left for the sea. Visit the Hsinchu City Fish Market here to buy fresh and seasonal seafood or taste the delicious dishes made-to-order from the catch of the day.

Public facilities within the fishing port are well planned, whether it be the access roads, or public utilities. In recent years, Taiwan’s recreational fisheries and marine tourism have become more prevelant and popular, so the city government has planned a recreational fishing and sports park for the area, allowing for development in the fishing port area and a diversification of function.
