The structure includes a 13th-century early-Gothic defense tower and a two-floor building constructed around a courtyard, with additions made in the early 20th century.

One of the notable features of the castle is the network of tunnels beneath it, which were used as bunkers during different periods. In addition to the main castle museum, there is an affiliated branch located in the restored 19th-century Town Hall (Ratusz) in Oświęcim.
