Museum of History of Art Crafts of The Nizhny Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia 

The exhibits of the museum allow you to trace the development of traditional folk art and Nizhny Novgorod art crafts during the XVII – XXI centuries.

The originally solved interiors of the Museum give visitors the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of a peasant dwelling with its carved platbands, wooden utensils and household items, with the ancient symbols preserved on them; a rural church with carved royal doors, covered with gold leaf and wooden sculpture; a merchant’s house with carved wooden furniture in the national Russian style.

Nizhny Novgorod land – the birthplace of three types of wood paintings, known throughout the world.

The Museum presents: exquisitely-solemn, gold-shimmering Khokhloma dishes; bright products with pictures of the people’s life of Gorodets masters; toys and household wooden objects, shining with ringing colors of half-Maidan flower patterns.
