Museum of Issouka Koudougou, Burkina Faso

Issouka is the first district of the city of Koudougou . Founded around the 13th century. Here is the tale story by the ancients and followed by historians.

Two brothers, the oldest of whom was Bassanga , lived in full agreement in Piella , a small village in northern Ghana not far from Gambaga . Each of the two brothers owned a chicken. One day the youngest, who no longer found his, accused his eldest of stealing it. A violent dispute broke out between the two brothers. The inhabitants of the village took the party of the little brother. Discouraged by this situation, betrayed by his family and their lack of confidence, Bassanga decided to leave the village. Accompanied by his wife and children, he plunged into the bush.

Before a week passed, at a customary party, the lost hen followed by her chicks came out of a hole in the trunk of a baobab next to the house. She had hidden to cover her eggs. Dismayed by the village’s injustice in Bassanga, the villagers asked the little brother to admit his mistake and to go after Bassanga to ask for forgiveness.
