Our representatives in the various working groups express the Belgian positions that are established in mutual consultation between all ministerial cabinets involved and the federal and regional administrations.

The results of the discussions in the working groups are then reviewed in the ‘Committee of Permanent Representatives’ (Coreper), which is the last link in the preparation of the meetings at ministerial level in the Council of Ministers.

Our country is making considerable efforts to contribute to the debates in the European Union, and not only on the occasion of a Belgian EU Presidency. The organization chart that you will find further on this site demonstrates this. This is also necessary, as it is estimated that three quarters of our legislation originates in European debates.
The Permanent Representation is a reflection of the Belgian constitution and the Regions and Communities are logically represented and strongly involved in the functioning of the Permanent Representation.
